Fact checkers may be needed in the Packers' locker room. At least they're providing the 49ers bulletin board stuff.
A strange accusation was made concerning Green Bay quarterback Brock Purdy's turnovers before Saturday's divisional-round playoff game against San Francisco at Levi's Stadium.
The Athletic's Matt Schneidman tweeted Packers defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt's Wednesday claim that he can make Purdy throw an interception.
Devonte Wyatt on Purdy: "When D-linemen just get pressure into him, he’s always throwing off or it’s behind them or it’s overthrown or short ... when you get pressure on him, it’s a guarantee we’ll get a turnover
Purdy lead NFL pressured passer rating this season. The only issue with Wyatt's Purdy turnover key? After Schneidman's post, people pointed out that it's not true.
The 2023 NFL regular season saw Purdy struggle with interceptions. He threw five during the 49ers' three-game losing run before their Week 9 bye and four against the Ravens in Week 16.
Purdy's NFL-best stats and ability to produce off-schedule plays show he thrives under pressure. Every team in the NFL knows that pressuring an opposing quarterback may be beneficial, so Wyatt likely meant no harm
A "guarantee" that Purdy will throw an interception is playoff trash talk. The 49ers quarterback will try to make Wyatt regret his remarks on Saturday.
