Panthers full Dave Canales interview

A third virtual interview for the head coach post was revealed by the Panthers on Thursday, capping up a hectic day for the organization.

They spoke with Dave Canales, the offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers.

For the Seahawks, Canales was an integral part of the coaching staff from 2010 to 2012. He oversaw the wide receivers, quarterbacks, and passing game. By 2022, he had helped Geno Smith resurrect his career.

Canales has led Baker Mayfield to his greatest NFL season this season with the Bucs, his first season in that role.

The Panthers have also interviewed Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator for the Bengals, and Bobby Slowik, the offensive coordinator for the Texans

Ejiro Evero of the Panthers, Mike Macdonald of the Ravens, Todd Monken of the Ravens, Raheem Morris of the Rams, Dan Quinn of the Cowboys, Frank Smith of the Dolphins, and Chris Tabor of the Panthers, who is serving as interim head coach, are all defensive coordinators.

Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Lions, has been asked to be interviewed.

On Monday, teams will be granted permission to start in-person interviews.
