Among the four teams who did not have a player chosen for the Pro Bowl on Wednesday, they were joined by the Green Bay Packers, the Washington Commanders, and the Carolina Panthers
Not having a Pro Bowler on the Patriots' roster has not happened since Bill Belichick's first season as head coach in 2000.
With a dismal 4-12 record entering the last week of the season, the Patriots' obvious skill deficit, especially on offense, has been a drag. However, one might make the case that a number of players deserved to be named to the Pro Bowl.
One bright spot for the Patriots this season has been Christian Barmore. In addition to 54 total tackles, eight and a half sacks, six batted passes, and a forced fumble, the third-year defensive lineman boasts outstanding stats.
In his second year with the Patriots, seasoned safety Jabrill Peppers has brought a new perspective to the defense. Peppers' stats in 14 games include two interceptions, seven pass breakups, one sack, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Keep in mind that Matthew Judon, a linebacker who has been named to the Pro Bowl many times, sat out the most of the season. Following his four-year streak of Pro Bowl selection, Judon's season came to a close in Week 4 as he had surgery to repair a torn bicep.
